Visual similarities, micro and astronomical

چکیده
Like many astronomy instructors this past autumn, I have been forced to teach my classes online. That means re-creating PowerPoint presentations, inasmuch as communicating visually on a small screen is different from doing so large one. In the process came see an old acquaintance in new way. NASA puts at 45 light-years diameter; 0.1 µm across, according National Institutes Health. So objects differ size factor 4 × 1024.Yet two share aspects common. Both are young with respect Milky Way, and both evoke dread those nearby.© 2021 American Institute Physics.

Statistical and structural similarities between micro- and macroscale wall turbulence
Microscopic particle-image velocimetry (microPIV) measurements are made in the streamwise–wallnormal plane of a 536 lm capillary at Re = 4,500 to study the statistical and structural features of wall turbulence at the microscale. Single-point velocity statistics, including the mean velocity profile, the root-mean-square streamwise and wall-normal velocities, and the Reynolds shear stress profil...
متن کاملresponse articles: micro and macro analysis
the present study reports an analysis of response articles in four different disciplines in the social sciences, i.e., linguistics, english for specific purposes (esp), accounting, and psychology. the study has three phases: micro analysis, macro analysis, and e-mail interview. the results of the micro analysis indicate that a three-level linguistic pattern is used by the writers in order to cr...
15 صفحه اولExploiting Visual Similarities for Ontology Alignment
Ontology alignment is the process where two different ontologies that usually describe similar domains are ’aligned’, i.e. a set of correspondences between their entities, regarding semantic equivalence, is determined. In order to identify these correspondences several methods and metrics that measure semantic equivalence have been proposed in literature. The most common features that these met...
متن کاملDeep unsupervised learning of visual similarities
Exemplar learning of visual similarities in an unsupervised manner is a problem of paramount importance to Computer Vision. In this context, however, the recent breakthrough in deep learning could not yet unfold its full potential. With only a single positive sample, a great imbalance between one positive and many negatives, and unreliable relationships between most samples, training of Convolu...
متن کاملVisual and archaeal rhodopsins: similarities, differences and controversy.
Rhodopsins are currently known to belong to two distinct protein families. The visual rhodopsins, found in eyes throughout the animal kingdom, are photosensory pigments. Archaeal rhodopsins, found in extreme halophiles, function as light-driven proton pumps (bacteriorhodopsins), chloride ion pumps (halorhodopsins), or photosensory receptors (sensory rhodopsins). Light absorption by rhodopsins t...
